To allow rainwater, snow etc. to drain away, it is necessary to fasten the tarpaulin tightly with downward tension. We have developed a fastening set for some common pool sizes that meets this requirement.
The problem
First an example of how it should not be. The pool cushion is the perfect size for the pool shown. The tarpaulin was laid on top and secured all around with an elastic band. With the first rain, however, a pocket of water forms around the pool. Why? The tarpaulin slides upwards and sinks under the weight of the water. This must be prevented!
PoolBelt the solution
The tarpaulin must be tensioned downwards so that it cannot slip upwards. For steel frame pools, we have developed a belt system with our customers which ensures that the pool cover is tensioned downwards. We explain step by step how to attach the PoolBelt.
Thread the loops: Thread the loops provided into the long wide strap. They will help you to attach the short straps later.
Attach the horizontal strap: Now place the long, wide strap around the pool. The filled steel frame pool forms a curvature, which we take advantage of. You attach the horizontal strap between the pool liner and the steel frame. Now close the clamp buckle strap. You can find the length of the horizontal strap from our sets in the size table. If your pool is larger, you can simply use the extension strap and connect it to the horizontal strap of the PoolBelt set.
Distribute the loops evenly around the pool and place one of the vertical webbing straps at each loop. Once everything is ready and the pool cover is on the pool, you can start tensioning it. To do this, thread the vertical clamp buckle strap through the loop and the eyelet on your pool cover. Tighten the strap only slightly at first and carry out this step with all vertical straps.
Only when all the straps are connected to the cover do you gradually tighten them. Only a tightly tensioned tarpaulin will help you to avoid water pockets.
If your cover does not have eyelets, you can simply use our sliding clips. The clips are already included in the PoolBelt sets. They are also very useful if, for example, your filter system is in the way and you cannot tension the cover properly. Simply use the sliding clips here to remain flexible.
The bracing for steel wall pools
In steel frame pools, the horizontal webbing lies underneath the “bulge” or “belly” of the pool. This means that it is automatically fixed and cannot slip. With steel wall pools, it is not possible to fix it underneath the pool and the strap would slide up the smooth surface. We therefore only recommend our system for steel frame pools.
For built-in pools or steel wall pools, it is best to use ground anchors around the pool to which the tarpaulin is attached with (non-stretchable) ropes.
Tip: You can use our midi clips and textile ropes, for example.
