What are the advantages of an XXL pool cushion?

No accumulation of water: With the XXL pool cushion and the correct tensioning of the pool cover, you can optimally prevent water pockets.
Only ONE cushion: Instead of many small pool cushions, you only need one large XXL pool cushion. This means you no longer have any water pockets between the many individual cushions.
Winter-proof: weather influences, leaves, ice and snow are simply diverted evenly to the side by the large dome and no longer cause you any work.
Better weight distribution: XXL pool cushions are larger and therefore offer better weight distribution than many small cushions. This distributes the weight of snow and ice more evenly on the pool cover and reduces the likelihood of damage.

What makes our CoverMio pool cushions so special?

Our CoverMio pool cushions feature a variety of high-quality characteristics that make them particularly reliable. Over many years, we have continuously developed and optimized this durable PVC material specifically for use in pool areas.

The corners of our square pillows are welded to a rounded shape—this provides additional stability and minimizes the risk of damage at the seams. We also use a high-quality Boston safety valve, which makes inflating easy and ensures a secure seal.

Practical cords and built-in eyelets are already included to ensure optimal fastening. A repair kit containing matching patches and adhesive is included with every shipment—just in case.

Which pool cushion suits my pool?

First of all, you should know the dimensions of your pool. To do this, measure the diameter, length and width of the upper boundary for which the pool cushion must fit. Then you can find our recommendation for the right pool cushion in the size table. Click here for the overview.

Which pool cushion do I need for an oval pool?

The dimensions of oval pools vary greatly. It is best to use the square pool cushions as a guide and check which size best suits your pool. In our size chart and our tutorial article you will find a separate section on oval pools with helpful graphics.

It is not important that the pool cushion fills your pool completely. It is more important that the pool cover is taut and pulled downwards. You can find more information on this at PoolBelts.

Which pool cushion do I need for an eight-shaped pool?

Eight-shaped pools are built very differently. If the “indentation” in the middle is very narrow, you can work with two round pool cushions. If the narrow area is not very pronounced, you can use a large square pool cushion.

In any case, make sure that the pool cushion is approx. 20 cm away from the edge of the pool to prevent damage to the cushion. And remember: it is not important that the cushion fills your pool completely. It is more important that the pool cover is pulled tightly downwards. This way you can avoid puddles on the pool cover.

How is the pool cushion filled?

To inflate the pool cushion, we recommend our rechargeable air pump, which is available in the store and includes the appropriate inflation adapter for the valve built into the pool cushion.

You can also use your own electric air pump. Please make sure that you do not fill it near water.

The pool cushion also has a second valve that allows it to deflate quickly. This means that the cushion can be easily dismantled, folded and stowed away after the winter.

What can I do if there's no way to attach the pool cushion to the pool edge (e.g., with steel-walled pools)?

You should secure your pool cushion so that it doesn’t slide around too much under the tarp during strong gusts of wind. If you can’t secure the pool cushion to the edge of the pool, you can also drape the cords over the edge of the pool and tie them to the pool cover, for example.

How high is the pool cushion when inflated?

The height varies depending on the pool cushion and of course also depends on how full you inflate the cushion. The height varies from approx. 1 m to 2.50 m depending on the pool cushion size. Take a look at our size chart, where you will find all the measurements and information.

How much water do I need to drain from my pool?

In the fall, most pool owners dismantle the filter system to avoid frost damage. This usually involves draining some water to remove the hoses. The draining height varies depending on the pool, but is around 50 to 60 cm for most pools, measured from the top edge of the pool.

My pool cushion is losing air - what could be the reason?

Physical cause:

Temperature fluctuations: During the winter months, large temperature fluctuations can occur which affect the air pressure inside the pool cushion. When the temperature drops, the air in the pool cushion becomes cooler and the pressure in the cushion drops. When the temperature rises, the air heats up and expands, which can lead to a higher air pressure in the cushion.
Solution: Fill your pool cushion on a rather cold day. You don’t need to worry about it getting too much internal pressure on a sunny day. It is robust enough to survive this unscathed.

Damage to the pool cushion:

Check the valves: Check whether the filling valve and, if necessary, the vent valve are properly closed.
Look for damage: Inspect the pool cushion for holes or other damage.
Check the pool edge: If the pool cushion is too large and therefore too close to the pool edge, sharp edges could cause damage to the pool.
Solution: If you have found damage, use the repair kit supplied to patch the hole in no time at all.

How does the repair kit work?

Cut the repair patch to size if necessary
Roughen the area around the damaged area and the repair patch with sandpaper
Coat the entire surface of both with the adhesive
Allow the adhesive to dry slightly
Press the repair patch onto the damaged area
Use an object to weigh down the area for several hours

Winterizing the pool - step by step

Step 1: Drain the water up to the first inlet. This allows you to dismantle your filter system and store it in a frost-proof place.

Step 2: Place the inflated XXL pool cushion on the water surface. It is best to fully inflate the cushion, as this will prevent it from being pushed to one side by wind pressure.

Step 3: Attach the supplied cords to the eyelets of the pool cushion and connect them to the pool frame or tie it down to the ground. Make sure that your pool cushion is approx. 20 cm away from the edge of the pool. This will prevent it from rubbing against the edge of the pool and being damaged in strong winds.

Step 4: Place the cover over your XXL pool cushion (preferably with two people). Then stretch it tightly and pull it down. Our recommendation for tensioning: The CoverMio fastening set for pool covers.

Which side of the solar film should face up?

Place the solar cover in your pool with the smooth side facing up. The air cushions then rest on the surface of the water.

What should you keep in mind when using the solar film?

The solar film should not be left exposed to the sun for extended periods when not in use—direct UV radiation can damage the material when it is dry. Caution is also advised when handling sharp edges or pulling the liner over the edge of the pool—these stresses can shorten the liner’s lifespan. During the winter months, the liner can be rolled up or folded for compact storage—it is important that it not be left in the water over the winter.

Can I cut the solar cover to fit the shape of my pool?

Yes, the film can be easily cut to size with a sturdy pair of household scissors. This allows it to be customized to fit round, oval, or rectangular pools.

How does the solar film affect the water temperature?

Sunlight causes the pool water to heat up noticeably faster. At the same time, the cover reduces heat loss overnight, thereby extending the swimming season.

Does the solar cover need to be removed from the pool in winter?

Yes, the plastic sheeting is not winter-proof and should be removed before the cold season, dried, and stored in a shaded place.

What are the benefits of a pool cover?

A pool cover reliably protects your pool from leaves, dirt, insects, and other environmental factors. This keeps the water clean longer, reduces the amount of cleaning required, and minimizes heat loss from the pool water.

What properties should a tarpaulin have?

A suitable pool cover should have these three factors:

UV-resistant
Chlorine resistant
Not stretchable!

What size should my tarpaulin be?

In the size chart, you’ll find our recommendations for pairing pool covers with pool cushions.

It is difficult to determine a one-size-fits-all solution for the right size of pool cover to use in combination with a pool cushion. It depends on how much water you drain and how firm or high you inflate your pool liner.

You can find our recommendations for some standard sizes in the blog section.

For custom sizes, here’s our tip: Place the inflated pool float on the pool and then measure out the required tarp size. An overhang of 30–50 cm on each side of the pool would be ideal.

Why should I combine the pool cover with a pool cushion?

A pool cushion lifts the cover in the middle, forming a dome. This allows rainwater, snow, and dirt to drain away more easily, so less weight accumulates on the tarp. This reduces the strain on the pool cover and can extend its lifespan.

How do I find the right combination of pool cover and pool cushions?

It’s best to think of both products as a system.

The key factor is the interplay between the pool’s dimensions, the water level, and the air pressure in the pool liner. Since these measurements can often vary significantly, it’s possible that your pool cover might be a little too big or too small.

With a little fine-tuning, you’ll quickly find the optimal position.

What should I do if the pool cover doesn't fit properly?

In most cases, you can easily adjust the fit:

Inflate the pool float a little more or a little less
Adjust the water level slightly (if possible)
Realign and retighten the pool cover

What should I bear in mind when fitting the cover?

To ensure that rainwater, snow, etc. can drain away, it is necessary to attach the tarpaulin tightly with downward tension. We have developed a fastening set for some common pool sizes that meets this requirement. Click here for our PoolBelt.

You can also secure the pool cover using the included wire rope. However, this fastening method is not as sturdy as the downward tensioning.

What are the benefits of the CoverMio Pool Belt for pool covers?

The CoverMio Pool Belt provides extra stability and keeps the pool cover securely in place even in windy or inclement weather. This ensures that the cover continues to provide reliable protection.

What material is the pool cover made of?

Our pool cover is made of high-quality polyethylene (PE) with a material weight of 200 g/m². Thanks to its fabric reinforcement, it is particularly tear-resistant, durable, and suitable for long-term outdoor use.

Why does the pool cover have a black side and a blue side?

Depending on the weather, using it on both sides offers you advantages:

Black side up: Helps the sun warm the pool water.
Blue side up: Reflects some of the sun’s rays and helps prevent the water from overheating on hot summer days.

Can I use the pool cover all year round?

Yes. Thanks to its durable PE material and high weather resistance, the pool cover is suitable for year-round outdoor use.

Is the pool cover UV- and weather-resistant?

Yes. The cover is 100% UV-resistant and reliably withstands sunlight, rain, wind, and fluctuating temperatures. In addition, it is resistant to both chlorinated water and saltwater.

What needs to be considered for in-ground pools?

For in-ground pools, we recommend tensioning the tarpaulin using standard ground anchors (not available from us). Alternatively, you can also weigh down the tarpaulin with our Floodworx water protection tubes.

What is the advantage of the PoolBelt (fastening set for tarpaulins)?

The PoolBelt ensures that your tarpaulin is tensioned tightly with a vertical pull.

The tarpaulin is often placed on top of the pool and tightened around the pool with a lashing strap or wire rope. Although this method looks good at first glance, water pockets often form when it rains, as the tarpaulin can easily slide upwards.

Only a tightly stretched pool cover will help you to avoid water pockets. The pool cushion does not always fit 100% perfectly on your pool and it doesn’t have to. It is more important to tension the pool cover tightly with a downward pull. We have developed a strap system for common pool sizes for this purpose. Click here for the PoolBelt.

The most common mistake when tensioning the tarpaulin

It is best to use ground anchors or our PoolBelt to tension the tarpaulin vertically.

Which PoolBelt suits my pool?

We designed our PoolBelt to fit the most common pool sizes, but of course these sets will also work for pools with slightly different dimensions. Is your pool significantly larger? Use our extension strap!

My pool is smaller than the PoolBelt set offers

If your pool is smaller than our PoolBelt set offers:

The dimensions only indicate the largest possible circumference for which the set can be used. You can therefore use the PoolBelt for the 3.66 m pool for a pool with a diameter of 3.5 m, for example, without any problems. Please note that your horizontal strap will then be slightly too long. You can of course shorten it with scissors. Finally, it is best to seal the fibers by fusing them with a lighter.

My pool is bigger than the PoolBelt set offers

We indicate the length of the horizontal strap in the description of the respective strap system. Use this measurement as a guide to see whether it is still suitable for your pool.

Otherwise, just use our extension strap! The strap is 2 m long and simply attaches to the horizontal strap of your PoolBelt system. Alternatively, you can simply order two smaller PoolBelt sets and connect them together.

Will the PoolBelt clips fit my tarpaulin?

The Midi-Clips can be used universally and are suitable for conventional tarpaulins with a thickness of up to 5 mm.

They are included with the PoolBelt, but can also be ordered separately.

Why does the round PoolBelt set not work with steel wall pools?

In steel frame pools, the horizontal webbing lies underneath the “bulge” or “belly” of the pool. This means it is automatically fixed and cannot slip. With steel wall pools, it is not possible to fix it underneath the pool and the strap would slide up the smooth surface. We therefore only recommend our system for steel frame pools.

Tip: You can additionally tension the system for steel frame pools with cords and ground anchors so that it cannot slide up. Or you can work exclusively with ground anchors to tighten the cover downwards.

What sets Floodworx flood protection apart from traditional sandbags?

Floodworx barriers are a simple and environmentally friendly solution that outperforms traditional sandbags. Unlike sandbags—which are labor-intensive, messy, and difficult to dispose of—our barriers can be set up quickly, are reusable, and leave no waste behind. To set it up, all you need is water from a standard garden hose to create an effective barrier against flooding.

One of the standout features of Floodworx barriers is that they can be connected to one another. This allows you to form a continuous line of defense whose length can be adjusted as needed. Thanks to this adaptability, they are perfect for protecting everything from doors to entire properties.

Another important advantage is the “braking” effect of our barriers. It increases stability and ensures that the barriers remain securely in place even under difficult conditions. This design ensures maximum protection and keeps you safe during heavy rains and flooding.

How do Floodworx flood protection hoses work?

Floodworx barriers are filled with water, creating a heavy, watertight seal that diverts and controls floodwaters. To do this, simply connect a garden hose, fill the barriers, and place them where you want them. Once filled, the water inside the barriers acts as a weighted protective shield that stabilizes them and anchors them to the ground. This creates a dense, flexible wall that absorbs the pressure of the incoming water, resists it, and effectively redirects or blocks its flow. Once the danger has passed, simply let the water drain out, dry the barriers, and store them for later use.

Are Floodworx eco-friendly?

Yes, our barriers do not contain any toxic chemicals, gels, or other harmful materials. They were designed with the environment in mind and require only water to reach their full potential. In addition, they are reusable, which reduces waste compared to disposable sandbags.

How much water can Floodworx barriers protect against?

A single layer of Floodworx barriers provides protection against water levels of up to 15 cm. For added protection, you can stack two layers on top of each other. This covers water levels of up to 30 cm. Thanks to this flexibility, you can adapt your flood protection measures based on the severity of flooding in your region.

Floodworx barriers are designed for lower water levels and are ideal for protecting against flooding caused by heavy rainfall, storm surges, or minor flooding. However, they are not designed to withstand extreme flood events such as hurricanes or severe flooding. Additional measures may be necessary to ensure a high level of flood protection.

Can Floodworx barriers be used on different surfaces?

Definitely. Floodworx barriers are versatile and can be used on a variety of surfaces, such as concrete, asphalt, gravel, and grass. They adapt to uneven surfaces and form a secure seal. This makes them ideal for both residential and commercial applications.

How do I store the Floodworx when they're not in use?

After use, simply drain the water from the barriers, clean them if necessary, and let them dry completely. Then roll it up for compact storage. They are designed to be easy to store, so you can keep them on hand for future emergencies.

What sizes are available?

The Floodworx barriers, which are 1.20 m long and 15 cm high, have a total width of 23 cm, including the built-in “brake” that provides additional stability. You can connect multiple barriers to form a continuous chain of protection. This way, you can adjust the length as needed.
The Floodworx is available individually or as a set of 4 in the store.

Can I reuse the Floodworx flood protection hose?

Yes, our barriers are reusable! If you care for and store them properly, you can use them multiple times. This makes it a cost-effective and sustainable solution for flood protection.

How quickly can Floodworx barriers be deployed?

Floodworx barriers can be set up incredibly quickly. All you have to do is connect a hose and fill the barriers, and they’ll be ready to use in just a few minutes. There’s no heavy lifting involved, no sand is needed, and it doesn’t create a mess!

Are the barriers durable?

Floodworx barriers are made of durable, puncture-resistant materials. However, as with all products, sharp objects or improper handling can cause damage. Therefore, it is advisable to clear the area of any foreign objects before setting up the barriers.

How many Floodworx do I need?

The number of barriers required depends on the length and height of the area to be protected. Each filled Floodworx barrier measures 122 x 23 x 15 cm (L x W x H). To figure out how many rolls you’ll need for a single coat, simply measure the length of the area you want to cover and divide that number by 4.
This single layer provides protection against water levels of up to 15 cm, which is generally sufficient for minor flooding.

When water levels are 30 cm or less, you can apply a second layer of Floodworx on top of the first. For optimal stability, we recommend either stacking the barriers against a wall or arranging them in a pyramid shape.

Floodworx barriers are designed to handle smaller volumes of floodwater. We recommend not stacking the barriers more than two layers high and not using them when water levels exceed 30 cm or during more severe flooding.
