Pools with a special shape – tips for your pool cushion

Our round and rectangular pool cushions are perfect for all standard round and rectangular above-ground pools. If your pool has a unique shape, we unfortunately can’t offer a custom solution. But don’t worry—here are a few tips on how you can still find a pool cushion that fits.

Large pools

For very large pools over 7 meters long, you can simply combine several pool cushions. Example: Two cushions measuring 4 x 4.5 m for a 4 x 9 m pool. Note that pockets of water may form between two or more cushions. So, stretch your tarp taut by pulling it downward.

Oval Pools

Oval pools can vary greatly in their dimensions and curves. Here’s how to go about choosing the right pool cushion:

• Determine where the curve of your pool begins (see red arrows)
• Now measure the rectangular area between these corner points (see gray area)
• Use the length you measured as your guide and choose the rectangular pool cushion that fits it.

Notes:

• It is not important that the pool cushion fills your pool completely. It is more important that the pool cover is taut and pulled downwards.
• Make sure that the cushion is not larger than your measured rectangle.
• The corners of the pool cushion should never protrude over the edge of the pool.

Eight-form pools

Octagonal pools come in various designs. If there is a narrow “indentation” in the middle, two round pool cushions can be used. If the narrow section is less pronounced, a large rectangular pool cushion is the better choice. Here is a guide to determining the right pool cushion:

• Does your octagonal pool have a “wide narrow section” and look more like an oval pool? – Choose a rectangular pool cushion (see illustration)
• Does your eight-shape pool have a “narrow constriction” and two clearly distinct circular sections? – Choose two round pool cushions (see illustration)

In any case, make sure that the pool cushion is approx. 20 cm away from the pool edge to prevent damage to the cushion.

Remember: It’s not essential for the padding to completely fill your pool. It’s more important to stretch the cover taut downward. This is the best way to prevent puddles from forming on the cover.
