As a camper, you know how important it is that your motorhome or caravan is always level. An uneven surface can not only lead to uncomfortable sleeping positions, but can also impair the function of appliances such as the refrigerator or water system. Precise leveling is a real challenge, especially on uneven ground. Fortunately, there are now innovative solutions that make life easier when traveling.
The conventional method: drive-on wedges and their pitfalls
Traditionally, many campers use so-called drive-on wedges to bring the vehicle into the correct position. These wedges are placed in front of or behind the tires and the vehicle is gradually raised by slowly driving up until it has reached the desired height. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Unfortunately, in practice it is often more difficult than expected. Driving up precisely requires skill and it can be difficult to find the right position, especially on uneven ground. The gradual lifting offers little flexibility and it is not uncommon for jerky movements to occur or for the vehicle to slip off the wedges. The wedges also take up a lot of storage space, which is valuable on longer journeys.
Lifting bags: The smart alternative to drive-on wedges
But what if there was an easier and more precise way to level the motorhome or caravan? This is where our innovative lifting bag comes into play. It is simply placed under the tires and lifts the vehicle continuously into the desired position by inflating it. No tiresome manoeuvring, no slipping – simply controlled and tyre-friendly levelling.
The advantages of the lifting bag at a glance:
- Infinitely variable leveling: Unlike drive-on wedges, the height can be precisely adjusted until your vehicle is perfectly level.
- Easy handling: No complicated mounting, no tedious correcting – the cushion is placed under the tire and inflated using a pump.
- Gentle on tires: As the load is distributed evenly, your tires are protected, in contrast to the punctual pressure of wedges.
- Space-saving and lightweight: After use, the lifting bag can be stowed away compactly and is extremely lightweight.
- Ideal for uneven terrain: No matter how stony or uneven the ground is – the lifting bag adapts flexibly.
For which campers is the lifting bag ideal?
Campers look for functionality, weight and space-saving design when choosing their equipment. Our lifting bag meets all these requirements and also offers you a flexible solution that is particularly advantageous for changing pitches. Whether you spontaneously choose a pitch in the forest or on an uneven gravel site – with the lifting bag you have full control over the positioning of your vehicle.
Product details: The lifting bags at a glance
Our lifting bag is available in three different versions to meet different requirements:
- Lifting bag L: 65 x 45 x 15 cm – Ideal for standard motorhomes and caravans.
- Lifting bag XL: 65 x 45 x 20 cm – For larger vehicles that require a little more lift.
- Lifting bag XXL: 145 x 45 x 15 cm – Especially for double-axle vehicles that require greater stability.
Our lifting bag set contains everything you need for trouble-free use as standard. The scope of delivery includes a practical bag for space-saving storage of the bag, a compressed air adapter if you want to inflate the bag with a compressor, and a valve wrench to tighten the valve if necessary. If, contrary to expectations, the cushion should become damaged, you can immediately make it functional again with the enclosed repair kit – consisting of two patches and a special adhesive.
Application: How to use the lifting bag correctly
Step 1: Make sure that the surface is free of sharp or pointed objects. We recommend the use of an additional carpet pad (e.g. anti-slip mat).
Step 2: Place the lifting bag in front of or behind the tire you want to lift and move the bag centrally on the rubberized surface.
Step 3: Open the valve cover and make sure that the SUP valve is closed before you start filling. If necessary, close the non-return valve by pressing in the spring and turning it to the left.
Step 4: Use our double lift pumpto inflate the lifting bag. It is best to lift the vehicle a little higher and then release some air by briefly pressing the valve until you reach the perfect height and your vehicle is level.
What needs to be considered?
- Ensure that the lifting bag is placed on as flat a surface as possible to achieve optimum results. If necessary, use anti-slip mats to increase safety and stability.
- Make sure that the valve is closed before filling. As it is a non-return valve, this ensures that the air does not escape again after the pump has been removed.
- If you hear a hissing sound from the valve after filling, simply use the valve wrench supplied and carefully tighten the valve a little.
- The lifting bag can be filled with a maximum of 1.25 bar or 18 PSI and was developed for motorhomes/caravans with a total weight of 7,550 kg. You should load a lifting bag with a maximum of 2,000 kg.
Conclusion: The lifting bag – the smart helper for campers
With our lifting bag, you have found the perfect alternative to conventional wheel chocks. It is not only easier to handle, but also more precise, space-saving and gentle on your tires. Whether you drive a small motorhome or a double-axle vehicle, the right lifting bag is ready for any challenge.
